On the table are fist-sized and delicate concrete exhibits, with small information cards next to them. The third person is wearing a CARE T-shirt and is explaining the exhibits to the two visitors.

Long Night of Science: concrete beyond bouncing and floating!

On June 26, CARE will be represented at Dresden’s Long Night of Science with its “Showcase of Excellence” as of 5 p.m. At two locations, we’ll bring to life how research works toward a climate-neutral, resource-efficient, digital, and at the same time practically applicable construction industry.

A major highlight will be the show “Circular Magic” by speaker Viktor Mechtcherine. Through topics ranging from states of matter to reinforcement, modular construction, and additive manufacturing, he’ll transport the audience into the magical world of building materials research—a varied, entertaining experience that will leave you in awe of the engineering sciences.

Experience the future of construction at five stations during our CARE Rally:

  • Try out a real concrete trampoline—guaranteed to bounce!
  • Cast colored letters from flash cement as a souvenir of your LNdW 2026.
  • Test your knowledge of building materials, construction safety, and bridges in the interactive touchscreen quiz.
  • floating concrete ? Be fascinated by the award-winning boats from our concrete boat team.
  • Take a seat in the CARE Lounge and be amazed by lightweight tables, 3D-printed stools, furniture made of carbon concrete, and unusually delicate concrete art objects from the particle bed printer.

CARE combines basic research with concrete applications — from the lab to demonstrators to new perspectives for the construction of the future. The Long Night of Science shows how these topics become tangible, testable, and experiential.
Because construction is a matter to all of us!
